Anna Ruth Philen

Anna Ruth Philen, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away the morning of July 19, 2015. She was a beloved wife, mother, MeMaw, Nannie and friend to everyone she met. Born on January 6, 1929 in New Orleans, she grew up in Morganza, Louisiana before meeting Daniel Reed Philen, her husband of 63 years. As a homemaker whose husband often held two jobs, she was a tireless worker who adored her family and friends. She found immense joy in spending time with grandchildren, family and visiting friends. In her free time, she relished any opportunity for working in her garden, which she did as often as she could until the very end. In defiance of declining health in her later years she remained ever positive and retained a clarity of mind which astounded even those closest to her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Daniel Reed Philen, sons, Wayne Daniel Philen, Albert Reed (Bubba) Philen and Chester Ray Philen...grandchildren AlbertReed Philen Jr. Matthew Byron Philen, Ray Joseph Philen and Grace Ellen Philen and daughter in laws Dianne Philen, Dianne Braswell Philen, Margaret Lewellin Philen. Sister Marion White. She was a Member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church A visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at Forest Park Funeral Home and service will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10 AM at the Forest Park Funeral Home Chapel.
