Alison Ruth Crenshaw Watson passed away peacefully on Janurary 16, 2015, after a lifelong battle with diabetes and its many complications. Alison was born on April 2, 1951, in Shreveport, LA to the late Miron C. and Ruth (Peggy) Crenshaw. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe with a degree in Journalism. Alison spent her entire journalism career of nearly thirty years at The Shreveport Times, beginning as an intern during summers while still in college. At The Times she served in a variety of capacities including Education Correspondent, Asst. City Editor, and Business/Finance Editor. She was also a Master Gardener and especially loved antique roses. During her career, Alison served as Vice-President and President of Louisiana Press Women; she was also a board member for National Federation of Press Women. She won several awards for investigative reporting and excellence in journalism, and spent a memorable summer in Washington, D.C., working on the staff of USA Today newspaper. She is survived by her sister, Anne Raymond and husband Larry of Blanchard, LA; a brother, Miron(Bubba) Crenshaw and wife Anita of DeBerry, TX; her loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, numerous cousins; and her cat Sandy. Funeral services will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home on Louisiana Ave. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 10-12 and funeral services following at 12. Our heartfelt thanks go to her many doctors, nurses, caregivers over the years, Garden Park Nursing Staff, Shreveport Regional Dialysis at Buckner Square and St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion. Our appreciation also goes to the T/O.T.S., whose monthly newsletter she enjoyed so much, and the ministry of St. Mary of the Pines for their weekly visits. Memorials may be made to any appropriate charity, or just pet your cat or dog, plant a flower, do a random act of kindness. She would be honored.
