Alice Stinecipher Layfield, 76, was born Oct. 13, 1939 in Bullard, TX and passed away on Feb. 13, 2016 in Shreveport, LA after a courageous 16 month battle with breast cancer. She graduated from Tyler High School in Tyler, TX in 1957 and married James T. Layfield on Sept. 28, 1957. They moved to Shreveport in 1957 and were married 55 years, until his death in 2013. In addition to her husband James, she was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Alton Stinecipher. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Rita Folds (Don) and Diane Watson (Marty), and son James L. Layfield. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, a brother Loyd Stinecipher (Pat) and a sister Barbara Vaughn, as well as special friends Johnnie & Reba Gates, Rita Bacot & son Aaron, and Robbie Strong. At her request, Mrs. Layfield will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016 at 2 pm at David Beard's Catfish Village in Waskom, TX. She loved to cruise and, at a later date, family and friends will take her on her final cruise to Cozumel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in her memory to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, or to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center for the compassion and care provided during the last weeks of Mrs. Layfield's life.
